The project is located in Haikou, the largest island city in China. Countless people come here every year for its fresh air, beautiful seascape and blue sky. What we are looking for between the city and the sea is not only a scenic courtyard, but also a poetic and simple life.
Great designs are always born in the process of creating and constructing on the site. All the "emotions" from the site, such as changes in the aura and constructing craft changes, could be fully and freely released in this process.
How to control these "emotions" to show "expressions" belonging to the site itself? The design team humorously called all the problems they meet during construction as "surprise" given by the site. The "surprise" is a nice bridge between designers and the site, showing its original appearance beyond the design. This, in a way, conveys reverence for the site itself. Only when the design well integrated within the site can designers handle its "emotions" well and make new surprising discoveries.
