Tahoe Courtyards Quadrangle of The Noble, Beijing

The design for this project follows the layout of Siheyuan (the traditional Chinese quadrangle dwellings where a courtyard is surrounded by buildings on all four sides), creating a special leisurely strolling experience in an courtyard with elegant ambience. The central garden is built in Chinese veranda style with a delicate spatial sequence. The shaded veranda is designed by a strategy of making the landscaping scenery change along with each moving step and embedding a big picture in tiny objects. It not only connects different spaces in one garden, but also well defines the touring route and the visual scope changes. Besides, a lot of outdoor transitional spaces are formed as the veranda connects with buildings. Functionally they extend the outdoor usable time of this northern courtyard for the short daytime.
